THE GERLING-MUT DUO BRINGS THEIR “POETIC REFLECTIONS” TO ROTHKO CHAPEL ON FEBRUARY 5
January 10, 2019 (Houston, Texas) Musicians Dr. Ingrid Gerling and Dr. Andreea Mut have created an evening of meditative music with the intention to share an experience of universal spirituality. Each arrangement on the “Poetic Reflections” program is based on a meditation, sacred text, or religiously inspired poetry. The composers on the program are of different religious backgrounds and nationalities. Premiering at the performance is an original work by Houston composer Paul English, which is inspired by the mission of the Rothko Chapel. Gerling, on violin and voice, and Mut on piano, want to engage with the audience through music. This is a pay what you can program with a suggested donation of $20. Rothko Chapel is located at 3900 Yupon at Sul Ross, Houston, 77006.
Dr. Ingrid Gerling and Dr. Andreea Mut are re-energizing the concept of the violin and piano duo. They began their musical collaboration in 2012, while pursuing their Doctorate of Musical Arts degrees at the University of Houston. Upon graduating in 2015, they officially formed the Gerling-Mut Duo with the mission to bring new life to this traditional genre.
