Events at the Rothko Chapel require online registration in advance. This helps us prepare the proper capacity for seating for each program. Events that do not require registration and are drop-in programs are listed at the top of the event page.
Registration is limited to 2 seats per person. If you are registering for a guest, please include their email address and zip code in the registration. If you have registered successfully, you will see an on-screen confirmation page and receive a confirmation email with a ticket link.
As our public programs are Pay What You Can, we overbook to allow for no-shows and to avoid having empty seats which could otherwise be enjoyed by those who would like to attend. Please note unclaimed seats will be released to walk-ups.
As a nonprofit, we rely on contributions to maintain our active schedule of programs. Rothko Chapel events are Pay What You Can with a suggested contribution amount, which will be listed on the event page and in the registration form. We do not turn anyone away due to lack of funds. Please note, these contributions are not tax-deductible and cannot be refunded.
Seating for all Chapel programs is general admission, first-come, first-served. For most programs, doors open around 30 minutes before the program start time. When you arrive, please check-in at our welcome table. We will scan your printed ticket or e-ticket on your device or you can check in with your name.
We suggest arriving 15- to 30-minutes early to park and claim your preferred seat. Please note unclaimed seats will be released to walk-ups. Walkup seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis pending there are unclaimed seats. Walkups are not guaranteed seating.
Please plan ample time to find parking prior to your arrival. Free street parking is available on Sul Ross, Yupon, Branard, and Mulberry streets. Be sure to follow all parking regulations and signs, as street parking is monitored by the City of Houston. Rothko Chapel does not cover any parking ticket fees.
The Menil Collection's main parking lot is located at 1515 West Alabama Street and is free. St. Thomas University's Moran Parking Center is located at 3807 Graustark Street and is $10.
The Rothko Chapel is committed to providing access to our events for visitors. The Rothko Chapel and Suzanne Deal Booth Visitor Welcome House are wheelchair accessible.
If you require ASL interpretation, interpretation for a language other than English, or have any other access needs or questions, please contact programs@rothkochapel.org at least two weeks before the program date. It is our practice to do everything we can to create a safe and accessible space.
Please be aware that any event at the Rothko Chapel may be photographed, filmed or otherwise recorded. If you do not consent to being photographed, filmed or otherwise recorded, please speak to a member of staff upon attending the event.
Program attendees are requested to be respectful to other participants and speakers/performers and not to use defamatory, abusive, obscene, racist or discriminatory, or otherwise inflammatory remarks. We reserve the right to refuse entry or to eject participants.
