Collaboration with Da Camera of Houston
Da Camera of Houston will present the world premiere of Sombre, a new chamber work by Kaija Saariaho inspired by the Rothko Chapel. The Paris-based Finnish composer Saariaho is known for her sensual, expansive soundscapes and sensitive spirituality. American baritone Daniel Belcher is featured in the premiere. Additional works by Ravel, Messiaen, and Saariaho are on the program.
