A New Strategic Direction
In 2024, the Chapel completed a comprehensive five-year strategic 
plan, “Rothko Chapel: Beyond 50,” a process that clarified the 
institution’s identity, strengthened its programmatic vision, and 
aligned its operations with long-term organizational goals. As 
part of this work, the Chapel refined its Statement of Purpose, 
Mission, Vision, and Values to better reflect its evolving role as a 
sanctuary for reflection and a catalyst for social change. These 
guiding statements now anchor every facet of the Chapel’s 
work—from visitor experience and programming to community 
partnerships and global reach.
