9/11 Service of Lamentation: 25th Anniversary
Co-presented by Rothko Chapel & First Unitarian Universalist Church of Houston
The Rothko Chapel and First Unitarian Universalist Church of Houston together to affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person. On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, join both organizations for a simultaneous service of lamentation honoring American, Iraqi, Afghan lives lost to violence, and reflect on our shared humanity.
Community members at both locations will read the names of all known victims who died on September 11, 2001, or as a result of the attacks in the ensuing "War on Terror." The general public is invited to join either location for all or part of the services, which will include interfaith prayers, moments of silence, and readings by special guests.
The reading of more than 600 pages of names will take place simultaneously at:
7:40 a.m.–midnight
First Unitarian Universalist Church of Houston, 5200 Fannin St.
10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Rothko Chapel, 3900 Yupon St.
