July Sizzles with Summer Sounds at Rothko Chapel

JULY SIZZLES WITH SUMMER SOUNDS AT ROTHKO CHAPEL 
Save the date for concerts on July 12 and July 26 

Houston, TX  – Summer Sounds, part of the Summer Series, at Rothko Chapel are two family-friendly concerts to be held on July 12 and July 26 at 7:00 P.M. on the Chapel plaza.  On Thursday, July 12, the Chapel welcomes the Arab-Brazilian fusion group Arazeel, and on Thursday, July 26, Mariachi Imperial de America.   Both concerts are available as pay-what-you can with a suggested donation of $10.00 per person. Rothko Chapel is located in the heart of the Montrose neighborhood at 3900 Yupon at Sul Ross Street, Houston, TX 77006. 
 
Formed in 2014, Arazeel, aims to build bridges across cultures.  Their repertoire includes Forró, a musical genre that originated in Northeastern Brazil and has African roots, Palestinian folksongs, Lebanese folksongs, and popular songs by Iraqi and Egyptian composers.  The group blends elements from each of these influences as a foundation for improvisation and exploration.  Complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided by Saint Arnold’s Brewing Company.  All natural, organic ice pops by Popfancy will be available for purchase.    
 
Mariachi Imperial de America is led by Jose Longoria and his sons.  The group performs a diverse mix of music inspired by different genres Latin and mariachi music, which includes covers of popular performers including Juan Gabriel, Vicente Fernandez, and others. The group has released three albums, has been televised nationally, and received “Houston’s Best Mariachi” from the Houston Press in 2005. Mariachi Imperial de America was part of the Selena Vive tribute concert and has performed on “Good Morning America.” Complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided by Saint Arnold’s Brewing Company.  Lush Puff will sell freshly-made, uniquely flavored cotton candy onsite.
