People from all parts of the world and all walks of life visit the Chapel for renewal and restoration. They come to experience prayer, meditation, religious services, lectures, concerts, or simply sit in silence among the magnificent Mark Rothko murals.

For the month of March, the Rothko Chapel presents a meditation in the Hindu tradition led by Dr. Hansa Medley and representatives of ISKCON of Houston.
“Rothko in Jazz” with Maris Briezkalns Quintet
In honor of Mark Rothko’s Latvian heritage, Latvian jazz ensemble the Māris Briežkalns Quintet commissioned ten Latvian composers to each create an original jazz compositions to illustrate the moods and atmosphere evoked by an iconic Rothko painting.
Filming the Rothko Chapel: A Conversation with Francois de Menil and David Leslie
This special event coincides with the virtual screening of the short version of Francois de Menil's documentary "The Rothko Chapel" (1972), including an interview with the Chapel's founders, Dominique and John de Menil. Organized by Moody Center for the Arts at Rice University, in partnership with the Menil Collection and the Rothko Chapel.

For the month of April, the Rothko Chapel presents a meditation in the Zarathushti tradition, led by representatives of the Zoroastrian Association of Houston.

For the month of May, the Rothko Chapel presents a meditation in the Islamic tradition, led by Mohamed Hussein and organized by the Minaret Foundation.

For the month of June, the Rothko Chapel presents a meditation in the Unitarian Universalist tradition celebrating Pride Month, led by Rev. Dr. Colin Bossen and Mark Vogel of First Unitarian Universalist Church of Houston.

For the month of July, the Rothko Chapel presents a family-friendly laughter meditation, led by Stephen Findley.
Contemplation & Sound: Mindfulness for Families
For the month of August, the Rothko Chapel presents a family-friendly contemplative experience focused on mindfulness and music, led by representatives of the Texas Children's Hospital Music Therapy Program.
2020 Rothko Chapel Óscar Romero Award
